As opposed to stardust, Diamond Lake Creative is made of Ziggy Stardust’s outdated carbon reserves. Upon first hearing David Bowie’s Fame, it was apparent that within the leftover remnants of this human’s flesh & bone was nothing less than the makings of an entire universe of imagination, thoughts, feels & eruptions that would mold a marvelous new world.

“I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.”
Pablo Picasso
“If you understand your painting beforehand, you might as well not paint it.”
Salvador Dali

“I think it’s so foolish for people to want to be happy. Happy is so momentary–you’re happy for an instant and then you start thinking again. Interest is the most important thing in life; happiness is temporary, but interest is continuous.”
― Georgia O’Keefe
Art is forever relevant, even after we’re dead and gone. The cockroaches and rats and Ted Cruzes and Megyn Kellies will spend their days perusing the museums of art and culture, not necessarily appreciating the art, (though rats are highly intelligent and over time…) but in some type of inner dialogue between the Id and the Ego with extreme bouts of disorientation and wonder at all of the beauty. We create things for eternity with the understanding that eternity is neither a fixed amount of time nor a reasonable estimation of longevity for anything that exists in the realm of tangible manifestation – or as dreams, thoughts, unrealized realities and the like. Art, simply, is the summation of everything in a life condensed into a space that is of adequate size to both capture the entirety of that life while still fitting into a space where it can be shared with the world.

The difference between a pea shooter and a shoo peater is not a subject I am able to speak on. That said, I love beets: pickled, roasted, boiled and braised – they’re like the sea-bass of root vegetables. Root Vegetables are particularly good for storing in Root Cellars. Root Cellars can also be used for the storage of canned goods in Ball Jars and glass bottles of Coke, Orange Crush, & cases of Leinenkugels. Rusted Root, a band known for their Root Cellar events, and The Roots, are both from Pennsylvania – Pittsburgh & Philadelphia, respectively. August Wilson (1945-2005), great American Playwright, and Jasmine Green, visual artist, poet, artivist, teaching artist, educator, are rooted in Pittsburgh, and Nilé Livingston, Visual Artist, & Moe Brooker (1940-2022), Artist and Teacher, are rooted in Philly. Pittsburgh has Primanti Bros. & Philadelphia has Max’s Steaks. This concludes my remarks on beets.
Next week I’ll be discussing the differences between Sam Alito & Fantastic Sams – spoiler alert, it’s not just the hair styles.
Please watch your step as you exit the theatre, that 1st step isn’t actually a step, it’s a crocodile.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Stories Book about?
The Stories Book is about stories. And while that may seem obvious, it shouldn’t. 50 Shades of Grey had literally nothing to do with the color grey nor the various hues, (aside from the shades of gray theory about life, I suppose). But this book is chock full of stories. Whether you find them worthy of reading, that’s not certain, but they are stories, that’s for certain.

How much does The Stories Book cost?
The Stories Book costs $1,000 or 500£ or ¥ 150 or will trade for various antique oyster plates from Chesapeake Bay area or Vancouver BC.

When will The Stories Book be released?
The Stories Book will be released on the release date, or thereabouts. The release date will be released once the book is completed. The book will be completed when I’m done writing and my editor is done editing. I have no idea when that will be but if I we’re a betting man, I’d bet it’ll happen before the turn of the next century.

Are signed copies available?
Signed copies of The Stories Book will be available by request and with the inclusion of a writing implement along with the request. Signed copies will be limited to 500 as my hand grows tired after a hundred or so inscriptions and the remaining 400 +/- bear a closer resemblance to dyslexic chicken scratch.

About Paint
Paint is one of those subjects that a person could go on and on about, given the colors, textures, pigment sources and the role of synthetics going back 5,000 years, but I won’t.
About Canvas
Canvas is not limited to cotton and linen variants. Wood, paper, metal, walls, streets, skin, denim, whatever – the world is our canvas.
About Tools
Having the right tools can be important, if you feel strongly about having the right tools; otherwise, use what’s available or easily accessible. Sometimes a finger will give you a texture/feel that a brush or palette knife can’t. And if you need to flip someone off, a colorful finger is way cooler than an uncolored finger.
